University of Houston - Softball Batting Cages

Houston, Texas
The project consisted of a new one-story 5,775 square-foot building for the proposed Softball Hitting Facility located adjacent to the existing softball stadium. The new indoor facility featured five batting cages, measuring 60 feet long by 15 feet wide each, with retractable nets for the space to be used in a variety of ways. The facility has a synthetic turf floor and is temperature controlled. The civil design components included the demolition of the existing softball hitting facility, the relocation of existing utilities (water and power), new sidewalk/walkways, and storm sewer drainage improvements associated with the proposed development. In addition, the site improvements included removing the existing earthen berm, retaining wall, and re-routing the existing softball field stormwater conveyance system.
